Dr. Namihas received a bachelor of arts degree in biology from Loma Linda University in 1981. He then attended the University of California, Irvine earning an M.D. degree in 1985. Following this he completed a  residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Loma Linda University Medical Center in 1988 and 1991.  In 1991 he joined the staff at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Hospital and was appointed acting chief of the Gastroenterology section. He received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1988 and Gastroenterology in 1991.

Dr. Namihas began a private practice in Gastroenterology in Redding, California in late 1991 which he continues in today. He is a member of the active medical staff at Mercy Medical Center, Shasta Regional Medical Center and the Redding Endoscopy Center.

While in Redding he has served as a resident instructor for the Shasta-Cascade Family Practice Residency and fulfilled various roles of leadership in the community. Most notably Chief of Medicine at Mercy Medical Center from 2002-2003 and Medical Director of the Redding Endoscopy Center from 2007 to 2011.
